Day 10 Raw Food Challenge Update....I love the term SunCooked

It has been a great journey so far. I am learning more and more about my self and my will power. I can accomplish a goal no matter how difficult as long as set my mind to it and use the appropriate tools to help me. I research the ones before me that have accomplished this goal. I see how they do it and I copy. That is how I succeeded in college, succeeded in my dance company and performed all over South Florida and now complete day 10 of this Raw Fast, lol. No matter how large or small the goal is, does not really matter. The same formula applies. Never give up, get the tools and education you need to succeed and take action. So, even if I pick up a stick of cheese tomorrow, (which I hope to stay away from lol) I will learn how to do this better next time. Until I succeed.

Be good to yourself!

More facts of Raw Food Diet

Nutrition science is fast gaining the reputation of being a healing and preventive device. Dr Nand Kishore Sharma, a naturopath in New Delhi, India, feels that most diseases are caused by bad food habits. "Unnatural food, which includes any form of food not found in nature, generates toxins that gradually poison the body," he says. From his 'Fireless Kitchen', Dr Sharma gives patients regenerative or natural food for degenerative diseases. This, he claims, has cured many. "I have even seen people grow new teeth and hair at 60 and 70 years of age," he says.

Urvashi Rawal is a case in point. A homeopath from Mumbai, India, she suddenly lost her voice in 1988. Doctors could not help her beyond diagnosing that she had developed some nodes on her vocal chords. During this time she met Rishi Prabhakar, who introduced her to his Siddha Samadhi Yoga(SSY) and put her on a complete raw food diet. "I suffered from severe diarrhea for the first few days. In the process, natural food flushed out all the toxins from my body," Rawal (now Ma Urvashi) recalls. Within six months, she regained her voice. Today, she is a senior SSY instructor.

Raw food is usually defined as that which is not cooked, applied to fire or fragmented. Uday Chotai, a naturohygienist from Mumbai, adds: "According to naturopathy, there are two types of food—suncooked and uncooked. Fruits that ripen in the sun fall into the category of suncooked food. Uncooked or raw food have not ripened at all." But both types have high pranic value and meet every requirement of the body.

How does the Raw Food Diet work?

There are numerous variations of the raw food diet, and you have the power to shape your own. Typically, though, about 75 to 80 percent of what you eat each day will be plant-based foods never heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit. (Very few people follow a 100 percent raw diet.) Most followers are vegan, but some choose to consume raw animal products, like raw (unpasteurized) milk, cheese made from raw milk, sashimi, raw fish, and certain kinds of raw meat. You’ll eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, and nuts, including cashews, sunflower seeds, and raw almond butter; some foods are marked as raw and sold at grocery stores, while others require home-prep. Grains are also OK, as are dried organic legumes (think lentils, chickpeas, adzuki beans, and mung beans) eaten raw. Other common choices include cold-pressed extra-virgin olive oil; raw virgin coconut oil; and raw coconut butter. Freshly-squeezed vegetable juice and herbal tea are also staples.

Live Food Challenge Day 4

Greetings Friend,

I am so glad that you decided to take this journey with me this month. These past few days I have noticed a big difference already. I am sleeping better, have more energy when I wake up in the morning. I feel more energized throughout the day and during my workouts. My overall mood is better and I have lost a couple of pounds already. How cool is that?

Some things you might experience
You might experience some headaches the first few day. It depends on how toxic your body was before you started the fast.

Yesterday I experienced a headache after I got home from my workout. I remembered what Queen Afua wrote in Sacred Woman about experiencing detox headaches when one first start a fast. The key is not to panic. Know that this too shall pass, just drink plenty of water and get some rest. It will pass, leaving you feeling energized and clear.

If you are feeling tired or achy the first few days again that is normal. Your body will go through a detox period and it may be intense depending on how toxic your body is. Again drink more water, eat more live foods to include raw almonds and other nuts more often. Make sure you are eating enough. That can be one of my challenges. However I can stay focused if I eat something every couple of hours. An apple, orange, banana with natural almond butter for example.

Some remedies during the detox phase
Take baths- yes in the bathtub for 15-20 minutes… Sometimes the shower is not enough especially for women. Add sea or Epsom salt with your favorite essential oils. Some women add whole cow’s milk to the bath water for extremely smooth and silky skin. I will not be doing this during my fast only because what goes through the skin is absorbed by the body. But that of course is completely up to you. This is your fast so make sure that it fits your needs.

Exercise…Dance…Walk…Run…Move…. did I say DANCE!!!?

Make sure you are drinking enough spring water. I cannot stress that enough.
Meditate…Take some quiet time for yourself and focus on your breath. Start at 5 minutes then make it longer until you reach 25-30 minutes.
Make sure to drink at least one large glass of water in the morning before doing anything else. This practice has many benefits.

Some Benefits of a live food diet:

• Helps you lose weight easily without having to starve and deprive yourself.

• Cleanses and detoxifies your body so you lose the bloating, inflammation, water retention and puffiness.

• Improves skin texture, tone, and complexion-- acne, psorisis, rashes, eczema and even cellulite-- all of that goes away.

• You no longer need artificial stimulants like sugar and caffeine for energy or concentration.

• You are released from the shackles of food addictions.

• No more aches and pains.

• Depression and anxiety lifts.

and...

• You get increased energy and vitality.
